Statement

Our aim is to maximise IT budgets and to find solutions that provide you with more for your money. In doing this, we hope to increase business awareness of OpenSource and other community based projects and to demonstrate how they can effectively reduce costs and increase productivity."
What we are trying to achieve
It is our belief that the IT and security problems facing UK SME's are twofold. On one hand many SME's have been quick to recognise the importance of ICT in keeping their company ahead of the crowd and in improving business performance. However companies are frequently sold IT products that they do not need or that are overly complex to manage, in short they are sold inappropriate solutions. This can cause administrative problems for staff and increased 'down-time' whilst also pushing up the total cost of ownership. The prohibitive cost of many ICT solutions suggested by IT companies may also discourage SME's from updating their systems and investing in new technology. This means that they will be being left behind in today's increasingly technological and competitive world.
The second threat facing many SME's is that of security. As the internet, email and wireless technology have become increasingly essential business tools, many companies have found that they have left themselves unprotected and often find that they are unaware of the risks they are running. Even company's that have sought and implemented solutions are often over-complacent that their security is adequate. One marketing mistake in the print media can generally be overcome, but if your website is vandalised, your firewall compromised or your customers' details stolen it is an extremely costly mistake that may tarnish your company's image for years.
All small businesses have access to the tools that just a few years ago were the preserve of major corporations so it is a shame to see that all too often these advantages are not maximised to the full. Equally,some small businesses are being persuaded to part with thousands of pounds on the latest web server and mail systems, or the latest server hardware when they really require much less.
